Kina Rummet was originally a part of the Grand Hôtel's "festive dining room". It was opened together with the other rooms in the Grand Hôtel Royal in 1909. The original dining room was later given a Chinese-style interior and renamed Kinarummet, the "China Room". The name has survived despite a complete redecoration of the room in the mid-1980s.
Kina Rummet is generally used for coffee or lunch during intervals in conferences held in Oscarsalongen or as a venue for small conferences.
